I'm following this up - trying to pinpoint what I'm allergic to. Apart from biting and sucking on a shrimp's head, I also suspect my lip balm. The lip balm that I started using every night since November last year when it started getting cold: Burt's Bees Peppermint lip balm. I haven't put it on since March when I had that allergic reaction on my lips that took weeks to go away . I tested the lip balm on Monday, May 23, 2016. I applied it on half of my lower lip and a moment later... There it is, that part of my lower lip getting itchy and inflamed. The redness is obvious close to the center. It was swollen when I woke up the next day and the clear bubbles started to appear along the edge as the day went on. Same thing as before. I'm allergic to you. I'm allergic to you... It felt really nice on my lips before I became allergic to it too. Oh well...

MAY 20, 2016 FRIDAY Fudge it . If I can't see clearly, I can't work. If I can't work, I don't earn. My eyesight is worse: -8.00 for both eyes with astigmatism (R 1.75 & L 2.00). My new prescription eyeglasses is ₱₱ kahit net na ng 20% (PWD-cardholder discount). It will have anti-glare coating to relieve eye strain from looking at a computer screen too long. It will have to be special ordered. The frame I chose. Dropped by Verona Optical in SM Muntinlupa on our way home from Alabang for this. Their shop is on the 2nd floor beside the food court. At least it's done. We can pick up my new specs next week. MAY 23, 2016, MONDAY I can see clearly now, the rain is gone... No glare. Good. I like the case too. Magnetic closure, shaped like a Toblerone box so it's steady on a flat surface.

Getting new prescription eyeglasses deferred indefinitely. Fund will be appropriated to something more important than replacing broken specs and better vision {insert sarcasm}. Almost 4 years in and its white rubber covering has started to break apart and fall off. Had to tape it together to keep it from making a mess and exposing the silver hair-like layer and wires inside. Looks ugly now but it still works. At least it didn't fall apart too soon compared to other reports of disintegrating kindle cords . Occasionally been packing my next-day's breakfast when there are leftovers. This baunan is deep. Gives an illusion that there's not much inside but that right there is 2 rice-paddle servings of kanin already (think half a plate-full of rice na).

This was taken on March 19 and the worst that the swelling has gotten on my upper lip. I had to use a teaspoon to eat. March 19, '16 SATURDAY Woke up, same: swollen & crusty-white. Upper lip's bigger than yesterday's. REALLY BIG. Took 5mg Cetirizine in the afternoon. But the Cetirizine is not helping with the swelling and because it doesn't itch, I'll stop taking it. I was told to increase my Medrol (Methylprednisolone, a maintenance rx for my myositis) from every other day to once a day to see if it'll make a difference. I cannot spell "broccoli" right. Quick recap: Bit and sucked on a shrimp's head on 3/14/16 Monday, dinner. Lips tingled and itched so took half a Zyrtec right away. Lips felt tight for 2 days. On the 3rd day, 3/17/16 Thursday, woke up with noticeably swollen & white-crusted lips (mainly upper lip). It got a little better during the day. On 3/18/16 Friday (TODAY), woke up with the swollen white-crusty lips again (upper lip's center border line's barely visible); it looks worse than yesterday. Took Cetirizine 5mg (half of 10mg tab) in the afternoon. So, am I allergic to shrimp now? It's turning out to be shrimp week here. Had a large ebi tempura (no head) on 3/15/16 Tuesday for dinner and pancit with baby shrimp on 3/17/16 Thursday for dinner. That's homemade bread pudding. I had a bad allergic reaction after I bit and sucked on a shrimp's head at dinner on Monday. My lips tingled, itched and turned red. They gave me half a Zyrtec right away and told me to take a teaspoonful of white sugar. I didn't have any food allergies until then. I admit that my lips used to tingle a little after sucking on a shrimp's head before but the feeling wouldn't last so it wasn't a bother. But, boy, that Monday's shrimp brain must've been toxic! The tight and tingling feeling on my lips didn't go away. Then yesterday, the borders of my upper and lower lip started to feel very dry too. I woke up today with my lips swollen and the borders dry and crusty white. My upper lip was very "plump" which was quite obvious that someone pointed it out. Cables are plugged OK. Our account is current (no outstanding balance). It wasn't raining. And nothing exploded at the Meralco pole (the PLDT cabinet is up there). Then, WHY? I shut the modem off (so it can cool down at least) and we called 171 using someone's Smart cell (it's free). Went through the automated recording and pressed buttons accordingly. At the end, it gave us a Repair Reference Number. The auto repair-reporting sequence didn't give an option to reach a human. Kindle book bought with Amazon GC balance (Mturk earnings... just slow and steady and it adds up nicely). "The Remains of the Day" by Kazuo Ishiguro. Just finished this yesterday. I liked it very much. This Kindle reader has been used everyday for years. It was a gift. Look at that Home button, I must've been rubbing the space around it while reading. The green Acase cover is becoming dirty too.

Shrimp, fish, ampalaya, rice. Delicious. I know I want light, clean, minimal and quiet. We tasted 3 kinds of Quaker Oats instant oats: chocolate drink, original drink and the banana with honey. All were yuck not good. Think "cough syrup" (blech).

Fried Kwong Bee Chinese sausage slices (I drool.) and delicious, cold buko pandan from our nice neighbor (salamat po). Sent payment to someone's Globe mobile phone bill through "bills payment" (online banking) and it took Globe 4 weeks to post it. Payments like these are supposed to go through within 3 business days. When it still wasn't posted after 5 business days, we followed it up with Globe. They instructed us to email them the details of the Globe account, bank used as well as attach a screenshot of the bank transaction with the subject line, "Unposted Payment." We did that and they acknowledged receipt of the email so, we waited. We waited 3 weeks before it was posted successfully.

The wireless mouse's nano receiver is stuck in the left-side USB port of the HP laptop. And this is probably why: read jong81's post on reddit . The picture he shared below explained it well enough. It's an old post but if HP still installs that kind of USB port in their machines... it'll be bad. Mine's a Microsoft 3500 mouse and not his Logitech VX Nano so, there must be side-holes on the Microsoft mouse too. Took out my other MS 3500 and checked. There's no hole on this side... But on this side... there's a hole. One hole. So it must really be stuck. Dammit. I'll be checking USBs for holes now... Wonderful. *December 2016, update: I told my sister it's stuck... but then she just pulled it right out! Geez - I'm such a weakling LOL!

Yesterday's broccoli, leftover pork stew, rice and freshly squeezed dalandan juice. I lost money in the bank last year (2015). A fee was more than my net interest. I used to keep some interest or just break even by opening short-term time deposits (TD) but TD rates have been sh*tty since the 2nd half of 2013. What's more, my bank temporarily stopped accepting TDs for 6 months last year without prior notice. They might do that again so I'll need a backup plan. I need to think (and compute).

I think we're having a cold spell. I've had to wear this at night or else I'd get chills. Pashmina feels soft and light. It warms me up well - so nice. The scarf is not mine. We dug this out of someone's closet. They let me borrow it. Thank you.

That's a tuna-mayo onigiri from the Family Mart near the Makati Med school. It's nothing special because they were very stingy with the filling. How many songs do I like playing on the guitar now? More than 5, less than 10. It was very cold here a few days ago. It coincided with the blizzard in the US and freaky snowfall in Taipei (Taiwan).

Yay! This is the second post in my "days in pictures" series. The Sony DSC-W90 camera is hanging in there. I have to pry the lens shutter open sometimes but it's still working OK. Again, the photos are only resized, not edited. The rellenong bangus pictured above was from my cousin who we saw over Christmas. Her husband's family is in the business of making prepared food. The relleno was delicious (as always)! I missed eating menudo... looks like it wasn't just me. :) Our mom and aunts still think of us as little girls. Glitter nail polish, hello. I received this as a present in 2013 so it has been gathering dust. I'm using them up now (or I never will)! Someone was in a good mood today. They saw the "octopus" hotdogs in one of the animes they like to watch and wanted to make them. Very cute.
