No dial tone. Patay ang linya. Walang Internet connection. WALA LAHAT.
Our dial tone disappeared this afternoon. Someone said it probably happened after 2:30 p.m. when they noticed they didn't have working Internet (nobody really checked the phone line at the time).
We don't know why our line died. Cables are plugged OK. Our account is current (no outstanding balance). It wasn't raining. And nothing exploded at the Meralco pole (the PLDT cabinet is up there). Then, WHY?
I shut the modem off (so it can cool down at least) and we called 171 using someone's Smart cell (it's free). Went through the automated recording and pressed buttons accordingly. At the end, it gave us a Repair Reference Number. The auto repair-reporting sequence didn't give an option to reach a human. There was an automated apology about them having a "high volume of calls" at the beginning though.
Called 171 again after a few minutes. The automated response said their engineers are working on it and if it isn't resolved, they'll order dispatch.
Called 171 again after dinner. The automated response was they'll send someone.
Automated. Recording. Automatic.
I turned the modem on in case a tech does come tomorrow. After a while, someone said they're online. I said I only turned the modem on, the line's still dead so, the connection wouldn't work. They insisted. I explained. They didn't understand. I had to grab their device and start tapping so they'll see it's all offline -- see, nothing's going through! They get it now. But not until I blew a fuse. They told me to relax.
My head is cloudy. I'll take an aspirin.

PLDT came.
He checked it. He left to check the main-something. He came back. It's fixed na.
What happened?
Dun daw sa "systems" nila.
They never elaborate. OK, salamat.
