Tweaking my giniling recipe

Image
I like this one. Not very oily anymore. I think it's getting easier to make. *1/2 kilo pork giniling (Medium heat. Break giniling up in the pan with a *pinch of salt) (But before it browns and "oils out", add as much *water to cover the meat) *115g Hunts tomato sauce (Stir. *1 Tbsp Datu Puti soy sauce. Stir. Boil ~10 minutes) *6 potato marbles, quartered (Add more water to keep everything submerged. Stir. Boil ~8 minutes) *Handful of california raisins *Small can green peas (Stir. Add more water needed to cook potatoes. Turn heat on high. Boil ~5 minutes or until potatoes are just right, not mushy.) (Taste. Add 1 Tbsp soy sauce or more if needed. Stir. Boil on high ~3 minutes.) (Taste. It should be done as pictured above.) Yum.

Caldereta, Longsilog

Image
I take pictures of my food but forget to post. I cooked the pork caldereta above. Liver spread does make it caldereta! I discovered HDR on my android's camera. Just finished the longsilog above. Sarap. It just started getting cold here, finally. Up until two days ago, it was sweltering.

Cooking party pork with pork and beans

Image
3-INGREDIENT PARTY PORK W/ PORK AND BEANS 1/2 kilo pork kasim (cut into ~1.5" pieces) 1 can Hunt's Pork & Beans (230 g) 1 medium potato (peeled and cut into 12 cubes) Put pork in deep pan. Add enough water so the meat is really submerged. Cover and boil on high heat for 10 minutes. Add pork and beans, and a teaspoon of rock salt. Stir. Leave uncovered and boil on high for ~10 minutes. Pork should be tender at this point. Add potatoes. Still uncovered, boil for 5 minutes on high. Turn heat down to medium. Stir, making sure to scrape the bottom. Continue to boil uncovered on medium for ~10 minutes until the sauce thickens. Stir and scrape the bottom occasionally. Check if potatoes are soft with a fork. If yes, it's done!

Skycable wifi hide ssid

Image
It is very sad when your internet provider's customer service rep does not know what the WiFi SSID is. Good thing I found the answer anyway. Thanks, google-sensei. How to Hide Your SkyCable Wifi's SSID: The SkyCable wifi modem I have is the black tower, Technicolor. I assume you are already connected and logged in to the admin panel... Important: Note down the SSID before doing this. Because when you hit "apply," it will immediately disconnect without any confirmation prompt. Go to the Wireless > Primary Network tab. On the Closed Network field, select Closed. Then, go down the page and hit Apply. Done. Like I said, after a few moments it will disconnect, and you have to manually add the network name (ssid) and password to connect again.

My butt hurts, Sky

Waited all afternoon for Sky to install my broadband today. Nagtext sila 7:45 pm. Naubusan daw sila time... Till next dispatch daw. I transferred sa powerchair ng 1 pm. Between 1 pm and 6 pm kasi ang sched. Kala ko matutuloy ko lang magtrabaho sa wheelchair, di pala. Nagpatulong nako lumipat sa bed ng 7pm. Sakit na kasi butt ko... :(

Bpi enroll 3rd party accounts

Image
I used this a few years ago, enrolled a third party account to transfer funds online. I filled and printed out the form, and had someone go to local bpi branch to submit it for me. In my case, they brought it back cuz the bank officer said my signature looked like it was scanned... that's what I got for using my favorite fine-tip gel pen. I printed another set and signed it with a ballpoint pen, even pressed a little harder to show that it's really handwritten. And the bank accepted it just fine. I believe the 3rd party bpi account I enrolled showed up in mine in 2 or 3 banking days.

Lte pocket wifi

Image
It's not my house. It's not my pldt wifi, they don't have to share it if they don't want to.  I'm trying to cope, find my own way. Mobile data is fine but I can only do so much on a phone. To work productively on the laptop, I need a faster and stable connection. I can't get my own pldt dsl yet cuz I don't want to be locked in a contract before I move out. I hope this lte pocket wifi will work when i need it.

Unionbankph login taking too long to respond

Image
Problem: Unionbankph login page taking too long to respond error Tried clearing your cache and cookies? Yes. Tried different browsers? Yes. Is your provider PLDT? Tried changing DNS servers? Oohhhh... Fix: PLDT DNS still sucks. Go to internet connectivity properties and manually set your IPv4 settings to either Google's or OpenDNS. This fixed my problem. Google's preferred and alternate dns: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220

Celeteque Travel Size

Image
Celeteque Traveler's Basics P149 at Watson's via LazadaPH Online I like travel-sized things. Last time I was at Walmart (or another supermarket, I forget) in FL, I spent most of my time in front of a wall with bins of travel size toiletries - baby wipes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc - that cost ~$1 each. Too bad I could not see the top bins from my powerchair. I remember that moment, I rolled back and forth in front of that wall taking forever to decide what not to buy.

Hongkong Chef in Pasay

Image
June 2, 2017, Friday. Lunch after my appointment at DFA Aseana was at Hongkong Chef in Pasay City. Clockwise: watercrest with century egg (suggested, off-menu), beef brisket, pancit canton. Plus rice and cokes, and net of senior citizens & pwd discounts: P959.00.

Win 10 1607 update

Image
They call it the "anniversary update." It was forced on me yesterday. It lasted 3 hours. I thought today is Friday. It's Saturday. I feel I lost a day. Now my sticky notes look bad. I'm not updating Windows again. My wifi is now set to "metered."

HP laptop hard disk short DST failed

Image
The fudge! Less than 2 years into buying my HP Pavilion 11" laptop, its hard disk fails! It happened yesterday: It froze around 2 minutes in. I thought the HDMI cable to the monitor was loose. I shut off the laptop and put it on my lap to reach behind the monitor... The base of the laptop was HOT! I tried to boot it a few more times but it would freeze before it can load Windows. F2 during start-up -> Quick System check. All passed except Hard Drive Short DST Check: Failed (screenshot's at the bottom of this post). This HP laptop was pretty expensive for me, too. Sigh. Says I should call HP to know what the failure id/code in red means but, I don't have the energy for this anymore. I need to work. I ordered a new laptop online last night, a different brand at a fraction of what I spent on this HP at the mall less than 2 years ago. I can't get over it - it's not even 2 years yet, I could've bought 2 more new laptops back then; a spare and a spare of the

Bpi direct td payout is late

Payout of my time deposit from bpi direct is still not in my account. I am getting worried. I don't like that feeling. My time deposit matured on April 28, 2017, Friday. Yesterday was a bank holiday (May 1, 2017, Monday, Labor Day). I checked my account today around 11 AM (Tuesday, regular working day), it's still not there. Of course I emailed them. If it's still not in my account tonight, I'll call. I'm trying to remember if this happened before, if it has been late because payout fell between a weekend and a holiday. Trying to convince myself that this is normal. *UPDATE May 2, 2017, Tuesday, 6:59 PM: Checked my account, it's there na. Yay.

How I pack clothes

Image
Been packing clothes vertically ever since I found it's better than rolling them. So efficient this way. You see everything. No rummaging, ever. Hmm. Not too bad for someone who can't raise her arms up very well. As long as I can rest my elbows on something, I can do it.

Bank payment sss online posting

How long before the SSS posts contributions online when paid through accredited banks? In our case - household employer and paid at our local BDO branch - 4 weeks and 1 day. Short story: We paid our R5 for the month of January over the counter at our local BDO on January 27, 2017, Friday. It was posted on our SSS online account on February 25, 2017, Saturday. Long story: I was looking for an answer to this and all I saw was "too long" or "sobrang matagal mapost pag sa banko magbayad." But I wanted a timeframe because I had to create the R3 online and I was getting annoyed having to check every day, madalas pa na mabagal bumukas ang SSS website . When it was still not posted under "cash collection payments" on February 22, I called the BDO we paid from. BDO said their SSS transmissions are scheduled on the 15th and end-of-the-month so "nasend na po namin dapat." Okay. Naisip ko na if wala pa by the 27th, Monday, I'll email SSS. But when

Walter Mart grocery delivery

Image
Success Buying groceries online from Walter Mart's grocery delivery website works. grocerydelivery.com.ph I ordered and paid on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The soonest time slots open for delivery were on Saturday, Feb. 18. Wow, it fills up quickly. I chose the 1-3 pm slot on the 18th. The minimum cart total is 2000 pesos to go through. Delivery was supposed to be free for first-time customers but when I got to the ipay88 payments page, 300 pesos for delivery was added. Hmm. *UPDATE Feb.22: They returned 300 pesos to my credit card so, delivery was free! Everything was through email: 1. Received my order confirmation with the itemized grocery list and the ipay88 payment info within minutes of completing checkout on the 15th (Wednesday afternoon). 2. On the 16th (Thursday morning), received an email that my order has been scheduled for delivery. That's it. Today, the 18th, my order was delivered at 12:15 pm. Happy. Everything was well packed. My receipt was good and everything was acco

Puregold online delivery

Image
fail I wanted this to work. Sayang. Puregold online grocery store They're only taking COD (cash on delivery) as of now. I don't think they're implementing this well cuz at the checkout page, there was no message box to enter instructions like how much change they should prepare. So I assume someone will just get in touch but I don't like that cuz that means we'll be texting back and forth and I hate waiting for replies. I ordered in the morning. It's next-day delivery so I had to wait (delivery fee is 80 pesos if the cart total is below 3000 pesos). I downloaded the pdf of my shopping list from the transactions page, a nice feature, actually (for a moment I thought my list was gone forever). The pdf included the auto-assigned branch too. At 4pm the next day, I received a text from Puregold Southpark (my auto-assigned branch) asking which area I'm in. I answered. They texted back to say they'll refer my order to a closer branch which is Puregold JR. Oka

Muji moisturizing milk (light)

Image
Muji moisturizing milk (light) 50 ml travel-size bottle I really like this. My face feels so soft after it dries. Application is tricky though. I have to be quick about it. I squeeze a thick 1-inch line out on my finger and use a finger on the other hand to take a glob and swirl it (cuz it slips down if left as is) on my forehead, and take separate globs to swirl on the apple of my cheeks, hollow of my cheeks, bridge of nose, tip of nose and chin, and then gently rub it in and spread it around. When it starts to feel sticky, I gently make sure it's even and just leave it to be absorbed. It takes some minutes to dry and when it does... Ohhh, baby soft and supple! I got this at the Muji to Go store at JFK international airport (Terminal 5) for $4.50 + tax. We were on our way to Terminal 4 and there it was! Wee! Anyway, I was excited and had to buy something from Muji. I would've rolled around and bought more if it weren't so cramped in there. But... Happy!

FAIL. This Palawan branch on Russia Street does not receive from BDO's Send Money online. Sayang. Someone has to learn how to use the ATM, then.

Egg, leftover menudo and fried rice (under the egg) Egg was microwaved. We managed not to over-cook it this time. Such a pretty sunny side-up egg.

Lazada PH delivery

Image
Delivery is within Metro Manila so Lazada ships free and quickly. But I wish the Lazada PH online store will: 1. Stock more grocery items, and 2. Add the option to sort by Seller. I find that if Lazada itself is the seller, they ship in one package and it's delivered to me the next day. Saya.  When I have different sellers in one order, they deliver separately. Kaya minsan, iba-ibang araw, may package akong dumadating pero isang checkout/order lang yun. Di ko type. Kaya, ayun, wish #2.

Vacation is over

It took a week to get over jet lag. Crazy. I missed playing. My guitar is out of its corner now. Lucky my cousin's husband offered to tune it. Relearning songs. I still suck.

Where to buy US dollars in the Philippines?

Other than money changers... Bank of Commerce! We can buy US dollars at Bank of Commerce. You don't even have to be an account-holder to do it too. Good to know.

Airplane food

Image
Beef and potatoes, Asiana economy, JFK-ICN, January 2017 Yummy, especially the cheesecake. It was strange that Asiana served only 2 meals + 1 snack on this long flight (~13 hours). On the ICN-JFK flight some months ago, Asiana served more because I remember thinking, "We're going to eat again?" Or was that on JAL?

Rainy day

Image
More shopping on amazon.com It raining now. A little gloomy and dark in here. I kind of like it. Amazon.com is wonderful when you're in the US. While it's not 100% efficient - I've had a couple of late shipments and wrong products - their mistakes so far were not major to complain about. I did want to give mom the Tena Ultimate 10 pads she wanted but - just received the package today - they sent the Tena Active 30 pads instead. Amazon itself was the seller so... Oh well, nevermind. I have a few more little things coming from Amazon, mostly groceries. I would've preferred to go to Walmart but it's raining (powerchair must not get wet) and some items I want are on top shelves that I couldn't reach even with my grabber. But it's ok. I still like going there even if it's just to roam around, and people are generally helpful. A nice lady offered to help me reach a Goody hair ties pack that I was staring at for a while at Target two weeks ago. I heard her

Mandarin oranges, turkey bacon, egg, rice Today is the last day of the year. We went to a movie theater yesterday and saw "Moana" for the darlings. I liked it. It was beautifully made and... it didn't revolve around a romantic love story for once, yay!
