Happy Christmas!

Image
Spent Christmas day at my aunt's house and here's a fussy photo of their tree. So here's a usual story -- I ate too much, I was lying on the couch because I was sleepy (from eating too much) for about an hour before we left, and it's now almost 3am post-Christmas day and I'm wide awake. [smile] Our Christmas day feast included potato salad, pancit molo , baby back ribs, steamed fish w/ herbs, grilled fish, roast chicken, chicken estofado rice, and pasta. And there's more that I did not eat like ice cream, fresh lumpia , and fruit salad. Then here's an unusual story -- We did not celebrate Noche Buena (traditional Christmas eve dinner) and we opened gifts like two hours before Christmas. This left a slight "Bah, humbug!" feeling -- only a slight feeling -- but, yeah, it was there. [frown] Maybe it was that I did not get to eat ham last night like I expected... Oh well. There's still ham in the fridge (I think) and I will have a go at it before

Wheat Thins, Carolers and Banana-ful

Image
I am snacking on Wheat Thins crackers (had a handful before I took this photo, btw) with a cup of Joe. It seems unreal that Christmas day is less than 48 hours away. I guess that fact is starting to get a reaction since I've been in a blogging mood lately (notice that I've posted almost every day this past week). Like, I want to put as much as I can in before the year ends. Last night, we had talented carolers at our door. They were four teenagers - one played the guitar, another one played the violin (yup! the violin!!!) and the other two sang while they were holding music sheets. Oh, they were good. They sang three songs and it was very pleasant. Usually, when we have carolers who are organized and this talented, they would inform us beforehand - to let us know that they're coming - and kind of, ask for our consent. So, last night's entertainment was a wonderful surprise. I suppose they already planned to come to our house because they didn't stop at any of the ot

Salty Ham on Burnt Toast

Image
Funny title haha but then again, maybe not. [cheeky grin] But that pretty much sums up what I had yesterday. OK, this is going to be mean but it makes for an interesting post, I think, like food that just wasn't good at all. I did finish the sandwich, though, so that it wouldn't go to waste. I am not someone who tolerates throwing food away... unless it was spoiled, of course. The burnt toast tickled the tongue in a gritty way... not good. The bit of mayo did lessen the saltiness of the ham a bit but it would have been better if there were greens too. Plus, the crumbs flew all over the place with my first bite. Good thing that I pushed them books away to make room for the plate. It goes without saying that I did not make the sandwich and that makes this post a mean commentary. But hey, if I'm going to talk about the good, I'd have to talk about the bad too, yes? This IS just another personal blog post so I'd better shut up about defending whatever. Yeah... back to

Breaking Out the Moisturizer

Ah... lovely cool weather's here so it's time to break out some serious moisturizers. I have been putting on lotion several times a day for a few weeks now because of this nice weather. It's cold but not so cold that you'd have chapped lips or blue toes. It is just cold enough that your skin gets dry but not cold enough that you'd have to wear a sweater. In a few months from now this lovely weather will go and I will have to wait until December again to enjoy it. So, I think going back to this post during the heat of summer 2009 will make it more bearable. :)
