Apple shrimp salad ng Wendy's

Image
Subok ulit ng bagong menu! Wendy's naman ngayon (via foodpanda delivery). Eto yung "apple shrimp salad (solo)" nila. Masarap ba? Oo, masarap naman.  Okay ang dami ng serving, nabusog ako. Maraming ngalang matamis (candied walnuts, dried cranberries) kaya maaskad sa lalamunan pagtapos. Refreshing yung apple slices. Merong spicy sauce yung shrimp. *Update: Masarap yung chix tenders nung kinain namin kinabukasan.

Chix Pesto Pasta ng Pizza Hut Bicutan

Image
04/30/2026 Expectation vs. reality ng "creamy chicken pesto pasta" from Pizza Hut Bicutan branch (Dona Soledad Ave) via Food Panda delivery:  *Pasta? Expected fusilli per product description but received spaghetti. *Taste? Salty 😬 as in... Sayang. Expectation versus What we received... Already ate some before I took this photo.

Goldilocks Luscious Mocha Round Cake 9in

Image
Masarap ba yung luscious mocha cake ng Goldilocks? Oo, masarap!   Here it is, delivered via FoodPanda. It's the 9-inch round cake with dedication (+pink candle), PHP 689.00... I used my foodpanda vouchers so I paid less than that, plus extra cash tip for the rider. It's like their regular mocha cake made "luscious" with the sweet chocolate ganache inside and outside... deelish! I used to avoid buying Goldilocks after eating one of their cakes with "grainy" frosting many, many years ago. But that changed when I was gifted their mocha dedication cake last year, the large rectangle one. It was so yummy; not grainy at all.

Spam chicken single

Image
Spam Chicken Single from Puregold (via shopee) PHP 68.00  Spam Chicken Single - Masarap ba? Oo, masarap! Spam chicken is so much better than other Spams... It's not salty! You get the yum of Spam without the strong after-taste. 👍 I want to buy again but it's always sold out.

Mini croissant na 45 pesos

Image
Finally, freshly baked croissant. Mini croissant sold sporadically by a neighbor who does cafe cart pop-ups for events. It was legit flakey, airy, buttery, and still warm when delivered. Masarap! It usually sells out quickly when she posts it on our fb community group. Sulit na 45 pesos each so, PHP 90 for 2pcs. Free delivery pa to our door. _ But sometimes, it's "buyer beware." When neighbors post food for sale, it's a hit or miss e.g. they post pics that don't match the actual food or the serving is too small for the price. So cautious lang when they're new sa fb group, pero kahit old sellers can be disappointing... This one time, I bought a solo serving of nilagang pork for PHP 120 kasi okay naman yung posted pic, BUT what they delivered had 1 small piece of fatty meat, 1 cut pc of corn cob, and a few greens - nyek! It was likely the bottom of the pot, but sana they considered that this se...

Korean-style egg drop toast, 10 days later

Image
Someone caught a virus on June 13 - probably at the grocery store. We were both sick by the 14th. I had a fever for 2 days then cough and colds for a week.  All food tasted bitter or nothing at all, but I could taste sweet food after the fever broke...  White bread, plain rice and cold Milo were my meals. A few slices of pear, too. I was nauseated and weak. Gutom na pero walang gana.  Korean-style egg drop toast benta ng kapitbahay Napabili nako nito nung 19th. Yung with cheese pinili ko, 110 pesos. Maliit ba? I thought I could eat more... di pa pala.  I started to feel normal 10 days later, on the 24th. Parang walang nangyari.  But my sense of taste is not back 100% yet as of today, the 28th.

dried fish, fever after a long time

Image
Scrambled eggs with kamatis and konting sibuyas. Dried fish from Guimaras, made by local fishermen using sea water - not salt. It did not smell while cooking (yes!). The correct way to fry this is in hot oil for a very short time... If fried too long, it gets tough. Someone went to the grocery store last night and came back sneezing. They woke up sneezing and with a sore throat - I gave them Bioflu. They felt better.  I woke up with a sore throat and cloudy head. My nose started to clog up too. I took my temperature this afternoon: 38.2°C. This is the first time I remember being sick with fever in a long while. I will take medicine later.

Palabok, cheezy kutchinta

Image
Filipino merienda Our community has a lot of residents who sell food for a living i.e. caterers, bilao, packed meals... even former restaurant cooks/chefs.  Sometimes they will post on our local FB group selling small or "solo" portions... What you see here is palabok with fat noodles and "cheezy" kutchinta in tubs from a bilao seller. They put the cheese in a separate container so the kutchinta wouldn't spoil.  The kutchinta looked too nice and glossy... I was apprehensive but it tasted authentic! So nice. I liked it. Palabok was yum but I just wanted to taste it. I think I prefer thin noodles over fat ones for palabok.

Shakey's Chicken, Salad N Pizza delivery

Image
Shakey's Salad Chicken N Pizza P279.00 Foodpanda rider did not want to go up. Nag-tip naman ako sa app at merong designated parking for delivery riders sa basement na malapit sa elevators... Oh well. My share sa 9" plate: salad, 2 mojos and bigger half ng wing. Sakto lang, busog... Ate at 3 p.m. and hindi nako nag-dinner.

Fish soup salmon

Image
Boiled salmon head with tomatoes, onion and radish. We cooked "kinamatisan." I think they only used salt; the radish makes it refreshing; the tomatoes and onion make it sweet. Salmon head is (still) affordable here; the "panga" is meaty.

Christmas food 2024, got lost in Multinational

Image
Our Christmas lunch and dinner 2024... Clockwise: rellenong bangus, shrimp tempura, chicken estofado, maki rolls, lumpiang shanghai, more tempura. In the middle: sliced lechon belly and fried rice. My contribution: I brought plenty of soda 🎅 Most were home-made. My niece made the maki rolls which she also sells in platters like that. My cousin cooked chicken estofado that is boiled in pineapple juice. My other cousin fried the tempura. The others... I don't know who cooked which dish.  I know the lechon belly was ordered from Multinational Village because we picked it up. It was supposed to be delivered but the seller couldn't book a rider. We got lost finding Noel Street or something and the house numbers were confusing, but the guards at the gates inside were helpful.

Dinuguan in the morning

Image
Hapunan dapat pero naging agahan. This dinuguan from the carinderia was savory sweet & sour. I think they used pork belly. Why are there black specks on this omelet? Black pepper maybe... not material from the non-stick pan I hope (yikes!).

Delimondo ranch-style corned beef

Image
One of my preferred brands of corned beef (so far) ang Delimondo na ranch-style. Masarap ang ranch-style corned beef ng Delimondo. The smallest can is 175g for ₱110.00 (as of this post). What you see on the plate is medyo more than half of what's in the can daw - I couldn't finish this. So good for 2 na yung 1 small can, maybe 3 kung merong eggs. Delimondo is a local brand, made in the Philippines... owned by Enrile fam ba? This is my 2nd or 3rd favorite corned beef so far. My top #1? Yung Palm corned beef with juices from New Zealand which is mahal for me, so I only buy Palm occasionally.  *Delimondo ranch-style corned beef via shopee mall link (Puregold) .

Karinderya menudo

Image

Sliced pear and gloomy morning

Image
Sliced pear, skinless longganisa + spicy vinegar, scrambled eggs, rice. It is dark and gloomy this morning. The air is cool but thick.  We are having monggo for dinner. They are cooking it already. I smell the mung beans boiling.

Scrambled egg with onion, tomato

Image
Skinless longganisa de Cebu and sinamak vinegar. Scrambled egg with onion and tomato. The sun started setting early. Madilim na ng 5:30 p.m.

Neighbor selling pork katsu

Image
This is only 99 pesos. Yung shredded cabbage nya is boiled, hindi salad.  She's a pro caterer who sells packed meals in bulk. How lucky are we that she started selling here. Saw her post on our condo's FB page. She's also selling fried chicken with different flavors, chicken katsu, and Hungarian sausage. Haven't met her in person but we live in the same building. A teen girl delivered this to our door, maybe it's her daughter.

Panda Express Everyday Bowl PH

Image
Panda Express Everyday Bowl Delivery via Food Panda Panda Express PH:  "Everyday Bowl" 1 Entrée + 1 Side Orange Chicken + Fried Rice =  ₱  239.00  + rider's tip - discount voucher  Panda Express' orange chicken is already full of salty, sweet flavor so this many pieces is good for two if the other person is not very hungry. Bought their "Everyday Bowl" just to try since I was craving fried rice. Usually, I get the "classic plate" with 2 entrees + 1 side of mixed veggies.

Domino's Pizza Margherita, Mix and Match

Image
Domino's Pizza Better Living Pque Delivery via FoodPanda App Domino's arranged its own delivery for this order, but within Food Panda padin; parang iba ang arrangement nila. "Mix & Match" - solo Hawaiian, solo lasagna and 4 pieces mini marbled brownie. Super sulit for P274. The brownies were very sweet so, we saved 2 pieces for the next day to have with a cup of black coffee. Ordered from Domino's since they're one of only a couple of spots around here that sell a simple Margherita pizza. This is hand-tossed for P461. Yummy and fresh - whole basil leaves, ftw! But eat it right away -- leftovers were 'meh' the next day. FoodPanda has a variety of vouchers. I used one for this order so I got around P130+ off the total (tip is separate, of course!).

Brunch Series: May 2024

Image
My "brunch series" :) Delimondo Luncheon Meat Delimondo's luncheon meat is yum. Sana they will change the can to an "easy open" one soon, you know, with a pull-up tab. I think we whip out the can opener just for the Delimondo products these days.   McDonald's Chicken Nuggets When I order McDonald's - the medium or large burger set with fries and drink (portion's actually good for two!) - I get their nuggets with BBQ sauce too to meet the minimum spend for discounted delivery on Food Panda PH. We eat that for brunch the next day. Skinless Longganisa de Cebu We have a neighbor who sells chorizo de Cebu and longganisa de Cebu. These are sweet with chunks of fat... yummy!
