Range Hood Light Bulbs Replaced 2nd Time

Image
APRIL 23, 2026, THU: Napundi yung 2 bulbs ng Electrolux range hood today - it's the second time since we moved in. The first time was in 2021; back then, we replaced the original bulbs with Omni brand E14 screw candle 10w 'warm white' which were marketed as refrigerator bulbs which turned out to be too dim for the range hood but we made do for years... I remember the orig candle bulbs were yellow or warm white too but bigger in size and with a higher wattage; maybe the max allowed (40w each) for this specific Electrolux range hood model; those were really bright. APRIL 25, 2026 SAT: These are the 2 new bulbs I bought: E14 that are "corn bulbs" LED 5w in 'daylight' (via shopee PHP65.00/bulb). Anyway, it says 5w sa online product description when I ordered these, however, the boxes were not marked specifically, and I didn't check if it says so on the bulb itself. But LED white light na so, it should be okay.  Since the new bulbs arrived today, we instal...

Mini croissant na 45 pesos

Image
Finally, freshly baked croissant. Mini croissant sold sporadically by a neighbor who does cafe cart pop-ups for events. It was legit flakey, airy, buttery, and still warm when delivered. Masarap! It usually sells out quickly when she posts it on our fb community group. Sulit na 45 pesos each so, PHP 90 for 2pcs. Free delivery pa to our door. _ But sometimes, it's "buyer beware." When neighbors post food for sale, it's a hit or miss e.g. they post pics that don't match the actual food or the serving is too small for the price. Minsan, meron din na hindi namin type ang style nila ng timpla. So cautious lang when they're new sa fb group, pero kahit old sellers can be disappointing... This one time, I bought a solo serving of nilagang pork for PHP 120 kasi okay naman yung posted pic, BUT what they delivered had 1 small piece of fatty meat, 1 cut pc of corn cob, and a few greens - nyek! It was likely the bottom of the pot, but sana they considered that this se...

Korean-style egg drop toast, 10 days later

Image
Someone caught a virus on June 13 - probably at the grocery store. We were both sick by the 14th. I had a fever for 2 days then cough and colds for a week.  All food tasted bitter or nothing at all, but I could taste sweet food after the fever broke...  White bread, plain rice and cold Milo were my meals. A few slices of pear, too. I was nauseated and weak. Gutom na pero walang gana.  Korean-style egg drop toast benta ng kapitbahay Napabili nako nito nung 19th. Yung with cheese pinili ko, 110 pesos. Maliit ba? Oks lang kahit di brioche. Matamis kaya nalasahan ko. Masarap pero half lang nakain dahil sa nausea. I thought I could eat more... di pa pala.  I started to feel normal 10 days later, on the 24th. Parang walang nangyari.  But my sense of taste is not back 100% yet as of today, the 28th.

34C, maynilad, condo water drama

Image
April 16, 2025 It's that time of the year... Ang iniiiitttt na ng 34 C (feels like 37 C)!!! The heat at 6AM wakes us up. Noon time is somehow bearable because of the black-out blinds, but we have to turn on the A/C at 3PM already or our tech will be affected (esp. the laptop and electric wheelchair!) or worse, we suffer heat stroke.  Maynilad's annual "repairs and maintenance" around Holy Week doesn't help since they provide our condo's water supply. Speaking of which - our condo admin shut off water for many days citing Maynilad repairs from April 6-17 . They announced a water interruption schedule on the 8th (as they should though very late) to allow the community cistern to get full, but they neither followed their stated hours nor gave any more updates or explanations interim - it was awful since the areas around us had steady supply already by the 11th/12th albeit low pressure. Whatever arrangements they made to keep adequate supply were lacking - and k...

Neighbor selling pork katsu

Image
This is only 99 pesos. Sulit na, masarap pa 👌. Kulang samin yung katsu sauce kasi ang laki ng pork. Yung shredded cabbage nya is boiled, hindi salad.  She's a pro caterer who sells packed meals in bulk. How lucky are we that she started selling here. Saw her post on our condo's FB page. She's also selling fried chicken with different flavors, chicken katsu, and Hungarian sausage. Haven't met her in person but we live in the same building. A teen girl delivered this to our door, maybe it's her daughter.

Replaced shower valve set

Image
APRIL 2024 This shower handle valve became loose — they couldn't shut it off properly, water was dripping off the knob. Waah! Disaster waiting to happen.  Called admin to request an in-house plumber to check it. He arrived a few hours later, checked it for a while... The diagnosis is the parts inside were starting to crumble " nadudurog napo" and that we need to replace the whole set. There's no admin charge for this visit since no actual work was done (I wasn't asked to sign a service order). We tipped the man (of course)! He also showed us a photo of a replacement since I asked (baka mali pa mabili ko). He said to call admin again when the part is ready so they can install it. I ordered it online, so we waited a couple of days pa, ingat nalang sa shower until then ( Shopee ↗ ) the shower valve set that arrived The shower valve set that we received was different from the product photo online, but I suppose it's all standard inside (?) - I hope! I called ad...

Christmas Eve 2022

Image
Noche Buena 2022... I already pre-ordered a "budget set" na good for 4 people daw (baked beef macaroni and fudgy cake) from one of our neighbors a week before. He delivered it around 6:30 pm on Dec. 24 so we heated the baked mac just before midnight... Masarap! Very pretty din ang packaging nya na merong holiday ribbons and all... di ko lang napicturan.  I did not want to prep or cook anymore para wala nang stress or bili pa ng mga ingredients. Relax and enjoy nalang. Naka-order nadin ako sa kapitbahay kong to ng baked mac dati so alam ko na oks ang gawa nya, maayos din ang packaging na ginagamit nya.   FYI, sobrang mahal na ng onions nowadays. Almost 400 pesos per kilo! 😲

Our Community Christmas Tree 2021

Image
It is over 20 feet high! The condo's HOA puts up a really tall Christmas tree every year. The trimmings change each time but still so neat and beautifully designed.

Condo Living: Taas ng Water Bill [SOLVED]

Image
We get good water pressure. But a few times a year, it gets too strong that our kitchen faucet, bathroom shower, and bathroom sink faucet will leak. Nevertheless, we normally average maybe 15 cu.m. a month and our bill would be around 300 pesos depending on the rate. *This is a 1BR/1BA unit.  September 2021: Our water consumption spiked to 35 cu.m. compared to the previous billing. It was over 600 pesos! The water pressure was so strong that I had to replace the kitchen and bathroom sink faucets to stop the leaks. Water started to run into the toilet bowl too -- but we could fix that just by tapping the flush lever.  However, we did notice loud noise coming from inside the toilet tank like it was refilling itself sporadically -- I ignored this thinking that it will eventually stop when the water pressure in our building returns to normal. October 2021: Our water consumption is higher at 42 cu.m. and the bill is over 800 pesos! Crazy. I went down to get my statement of...

replacement circuit breaker

Image
The maintenance guy just left... See, our range hood and electric stove quit working last night. We called for maintenance to check it then, but it was too late so no one came. We asked our lobby guard to call them again around noon today. The maintenance guy came at around 2 PM. His greeting was... I'm going to fix your door too. LOL. Yeah, our door handle is loose too. So he checked the stove and hood... used our extension cord to check the hood's power (the hood is not broken, yay!) and other things... The verdict: we need to replace the circuit breaker. Damn. I hoped it was just the fuse. Anyway, the good news is that he has a spare 32-amp breaker cuz the people that ordered it first were not home when he visited their unit earlier so, if we wanted to, we can buy that spare that costs 300 pesos so he can install it today, and he can just buy another one for that other unit. OMG, yes, please! Installation fee is separate though because the condo admin will charge ...
