2GO Domestic Budget Box 2023
This is our experience with 2GO Domestic Budget Box 50kg service -- the cheapest one we found, so far.
Initial inquiry, call to customer service (+632) 877-99-222:
The maximum total fee is 1K pesos for shipping box with personal items from Metro Manila to Visayas "Door to Pier." This is considered "Less than Container Load" or LCL cargo via sea freight. The ship leaves when the container is full, usually between 1 and 2 weeks, and the NCR to Visayas trip is just 1 or 2 days. Time between pickup and arrival at destination is typically 2 weeks max.
👉 The recipient and shipper will then get a text message with further instructions when the box is ready for pick up at their warehouse.
Our Prep:
- Bought our own box 20" square (purchased online ~PHP 200.00) and 2" clear packing tape.
- Personal items only. None of which are liquid, breakable, or perishable.
- No "dangerous goods" of course. If in doubt, call their customer service (+632) 877-99-222
- Made sure that the total weight of the contents less than 50 kg. We estimated ours at 40 kg.
- Ready our cash PHP 1k. The actual total will be computed by the rider at pick-up.
Timeline:
1/26/2023, Afternoon - Called 2GO customer service hotline (+632) 877-99-222 for next-day pick up. Agent collected the sender's address, contact info, and other pertinent details. She marked it as "Pre-Paid" meaning we will pay the rider at pick-up. She told us to stand by for the rider's call on the day anytime until 8pm.
1/27/2023, 5:30 PM - Rider called and arrived within 45 minutes.
He unwrapped and assembled our brand new box, packed the stuff, and handed us a blank waybill to fill out. He's clearly done this before -- he packed and taped it all quite efficiently. We watched him do his thing, and we made sure the waybill was filled out correctly.
He calculated the bill for 40kg plus our declared value fee (max declared value is PHP 5k which adds either 20.00 or 25.00 - I forget - to the total). Total bill was under PHP 680.00.
We paid the man, he gave us an official receipt with our copy of the waybill, and off he went. He did not have a trolley so he lifted the box up to his shoulder like it was nothing! Nice man, too. Professional and polite in dealing with us. We regret not tipping him, seriously.

1/31/2023 9:27 AM - Status updated to "Cargo Stuffed to Container" (checked online after delivery and saw this info including more details about the shipment)
2/8/2023, Morning - Text received by both parties that the box can be picked up within 48 hours. After 48 hours, a PHP 300.00 per cbm per day will be charged for storage.
2/9/2023, Afternoon - Box was picked up by the recipient. Online status also updated to "Delivered."
