Golden Powerchair Charging/Chargers

Image
Always have a spare charger for your electric wheelchair just in case... like today. When we plugged in my powerchair, the light on the charger turned green when it should've turned red (for reference, green light = fully charged VS. red light = charging). The actual light has been dim and difficult to see for a while now. I started using this generic charger in January 2021 when the original charger stopped working. Anyway, we troubleshoot... Took the spare charger out, plugged it in and RED light! Yay *insert tears of joy* - oh there's an emoji pala  ðŸ˜‚. The light is nice and bright. So if the light becomes dim, it is a sign that the charger needs to be replaced soon. Now that I think about it, I noticed that sign with the original charger too. Since the spare is now the primary, I will get a new spare charger (again).  the original charger the generic charger replacement

Panasonic SLA Batteries Fail

Image
I used two (2) of these Panasonic sealed lead acid batteries 12v 18ah to replace the original UB ones on my Golden Literider electric wheelchair... These were not good at all. I thought by buying a brand name, I would get good quality, but no. These failed from the get-go...  Quick to drain and would not last long enough to get me outdoors so I was stuck indoors for the year and a half that it lasted until they finally died on me. The new ones I got are JSL II brand and I upgraded to 20ah and so far, the JSL II are holding up very well.

Electric Wheelchair - COSIN color 180H Outdoor

My Cosin Electric Wheelchair for Outdoors *UPDATE July 30, 2022 Big fail. Do not get this wheelchair model. The wheel must be taken off to remove the battery box according to the seller! After our back-and-forth about how to send them the battery box when it failed, we finally know we can't easily remove the battery on our own because the wheel on the battery-side is welded(?) in. Sad. Long story (BATTERY NOT CHARGING ISSUE, July 2022): After 20 months, the lithium battery stopped taking a charge — I even bought a new compatible lithium charger and it still won't charge. It's too soon for its battery to fail (lithium for wheelchairs ~3 yrs at least) so, I contacted the seller who suggested I ship the battery box via cargo to Cebu so they can "troubleshoot." Anyway, after chatting on how to remove the battery box, they finally got confirmation with the manufacturer that the wheel must be taken off... Nyek! We could not do it ourselves so this Cosin electric wh...

Worn and torn

Image
The powerchair after just 2 months One black plastic cap over a front wheel is lost, seat is squeaking, motor is tick-tick-ticking... Phew. It's been gate-checked at airports 4 times (airline staff here in the US are so used to it that it's great traveling now), strapped inside wheelchair-accessible cab (once) and shuttles (twice), wheeled through some small streets (even brick so it hurt my head because my chair does not have shock absorbers), disassembled to fit in an SUV full of groceries, wheeled through sand (tried to but failed - I got stuck and had to be pushed back to the cemented walkway - terrifying), through grass (never again - dirty and uneven ground), through wet ground (ick), drizzle of rain (ack - this is an electric wheelchair, you know)... What else? Point is, I can't keep it pristine, clean and all in one piece. At this point, I'm happy it's still working and I'm free to move around by myself - yipee!

Golden Literider ptc162

Golden literider ptc 162 model in red. I have a powerchair! Yay! The first picture is the salesman adjusting the metal plate to go up a notch for me. A powerchair was on top of my to-buy list while in Florida. We headed straight to the medical supplies store our first week in. I love my red chariot! Weeee!
