turon merienda I'm mastering a couple of my favorite songs on the acoustic guitar and I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. Truth is, I would've stopped if I didn't and I would've been sad. I do accept that my playing is not very good 'cause I can't press the strings well enough but with what strength I have... I'm happy. And I'm playing for me. Picked up the guitar again after almost 20 years. I wanted an electric guitar so I can produce a cleaner sound (easier to press) but the new, good ones were out of my budget. So, I settled for a smaller acoustic guitar that the salesman called the "classic." It's smaller than a full-size acoustic guitar. It has nylon strings (easier to press). For a while there, I couldn't decide if I wanted to get Third Eye Blind's first CD or the "A Collection" CD or pick out individual songs. I re-listened to 3eb a month or so ago. Memories from college came flooding back and it was great. The band just came out at the time. A buddy handed me a tape of their first album and said, "You have to listen to this." I did and synapses in my brain rippled in a good way, it was amazing. Thanks, man. Anyway, I ended up choosing individual tracks because I might have outgrown most of the other songs. Bought "Wounded" and the last 3 tracks on the first album as well as "Jumper" which is just... no explanation needed. Happy days are here again. Dipped into my darlings' gifts fund for this. Their birthdays aren't for a few months yet so I can mturk a little harder until then to bring the balance back up.

*UPDATE* Bought a song on mymusicstore on 1st Feb 2012. It was easy peasy and a-OK. mymusicstore.com.ph went live a couple of days ago. it's still in "beta." i have not tried it yet. their database of local and international artists looks good, lots of choices. again - i have not tried it yet - just want to make that clear. i think i'll wait for a FAQ page, more info; a lot of questions need clearing up {i don't see these mentioned in their "terms" as of today}: are these mp3 files? {nakasulat sa terms kanina, "most" are drm-free, sana specify nila} how big is a file; bitrate? how many times can i download my purchase? {what if the connection drops while downloading, diba? it will be disappointing to have to buy again if something goes wrong.} payment methods? {press releases mention paypal, CC and smart money - they should make this clear on their official page, no? kasi when i checked kanina, di agad kita. actually, parang wala ata ak

select goo goo dolls tunes in playlist, only 4 songs though. Vocals by Rzeznik, of course. Fun. College rock? Got the "clean" Sympathy, much better than the other one, i think. Where's our guitar? Am storing ripped music cd's into cloud - disaster recovery and all that. Zipping is a timesaver, lifesaver, saver... Plus point for xp for i thought i'd never use it. Glad to be wrong about thinking so.

When it comes to bands, it's been that they'd put out new music every two or three years. Then, they'd go on hiatus... when members usually go do their own thing. There's no assurance that they'd work together again and if they do, you wonder if you'll like what they'll put out given that they've grown and maybe want to explore new music - the kind that's totally different from what you liked about them in the first place. I'm in the verge of being in a slump... coming close to getting music that I like from these men's bands... coming close to have all that I like so far... and sadly, after that, there's nothing else that I want to have. Nothing else, for now. But what about later and there's still nothing - what then?

Eyes puffy from fixing somebody's laptop for three hours. What's with Toshiba satellite and Microsoft updates that do not play well together? Anyway, got the sounds working fine again. Thankfully, the fix wasn't major or worrying to try, just took a long while to figure it out. I'm beginning to think that fixes which worked before do not work on the second, third - you get it - time. Getting acquainted with pablo honey . It's by radiohead. I'm liking it.

Last year, in February, I wrote about Fliptunes Plus . As an update to that - the site is now nonexistent! Hurrah! About time too, and while I don't know exactly when it went under, for some reason a link to it is still on its local counterpart, Fliptunes [dot] net. It goes to a confused, what-are-you-talking-about? blog now. That is a turnoff (to say the least) and goes to show how unprofessional and suspicious their set-up is. I am never going there again - and neither should anyone! Poor form, flip-whatever!

Been streaming "In Between Moments" on grooveshark these past few weeks. It's a Better than Ezra iTunes-only bonus track on their latest record. Seriously, on the first listen, I thought, WTH?!? BTE came up with this?!? They did. It was super soft, so light that it was tinkling (if that makes sense), and on the brink of sounding boy-band-ish. Was expecting something crazy and playful towards the end like they did in the amazing "Rosealia" but no, no playful ending here. It was straight up serious. I laughed so hard. It was a mix of disbelief, shock and amusement. It was like that for a while and it was very fun - laughing so hard. But I got to stop laughing at it lately 'cause the novelty and newness is gone (a natural result of overplaying, I suppose). Yes, I listened to it many times - still do when I want to. Without a doubt, listening to it is... A guilty pleasure.

Happy. Happy. Happy. This time, it arrived just 8 days with amazon's expedited shipping. And yes, that's it for this year's amazon buys and sending it here. Will build up my GC balance for my darlings' Christmas gifts from now on. Better Than Ezra's Friction, Baby is amazing. I highly recommend it. And I'm off to music bliss...

No more Deezer for the world, I suppose, and it makes me wish I were in France 'cause it seems to only work for users there now. Namechecking the music-streaming site over several months on this blog, I think it has finally succumbed to labels and lawyers which bullied it into observing their imposed territory limitations that snub every other country on the planet. Such a shame. I will miss using its wonderful, classy interface. It is a fact that most music that I've listened to on Deezer eventually led to proper purchases of digital downloads and CDs. These are music that I would not have discovered and enjoyed and wanted to buy if not for Deezer. For what it's worth, it was wonderful having a beautiful on-demand music streaming site for anyone, anywhere in the world - even if it's just a short while. But I hope that in the future, I'd be talking about "deezer resurrected" or something like it after this eulogy of sorts. Sayang talaga .

I have over an hour of BTE music in my library (too short but there'll be more, oh yes, there'll be more), I am quite content - to date. With Better Than Ezra playing and my headset on, I sing along and it's fun... "sincerely, me", "good", "cars crash" (tricky learning the words to this one), to name a few. Truth be told, I must sound terrible but I don't care because I have the headset on. I think I should spare people here from hearing me wail away and shut the door too but I don't. They'll suffer me a little longer, they're not complaining (yet). Then the music stops. "Awww..."

Woke up to lovely news -- my goodies are here! Of course, thanks to the gracious person who came back from his holiday and brought these with him. Bought "the diary..." (obviously, a used book) and keane's UTIS from amazon with my mturk earnings. But H&F, I'm not sure where it's from (no, I did not buy it but seeing it was a happy surprise indeed!) because I was expecting another record that I did buy. Short story about it is that the should-be cd broke and that ate would replace it. Apparently, ate bought the wrong record. Quite funny that I'm not upset about the mistake, really. Was planning to get H&F soon anyway so it's all good. So happy. [couldn't stop smiling, oh dear]

I assume it's the 3rd version... it has a new look. Doesn't look as good as the old deezer, in my opinion, but it's working fine now so I'll shut up about it - except that I have to log in every time now which is kind of a slight turn off. Couldn't learn much about the new deezer from neither its blog nor forum 'cause they're in French (edit: the English thread is lacking, to say the least)... most English-speaking users must've jumped ship when it had problems before.
